To buy or not to buy? Moisturisers

The weather has taken a turn. Summer seems like it is leaving us once again.
I've found that my hands are really dry recently. Now it's not especially because of the weather. I ran out of my current hand cream. L'occitane dry skin hand cream. I've loved this cream for the longest time. I have accumulated a few other hand creams but none seem to quite match up to it. They either are too greasy or not moisturising enough. There is something that just isn't what I like about them. L'Occitaine hand cream is very moisturising, smell great, and is not too greasy. It just does the job, and very well too!
Nivea express hand cream was one of the few that I had accumulated. I decided to give that another go and liked it. It's not at all greasy. The formula is very light. Very hydrating. It skins into the skin in seconds! Your hands feel like they are hydrated. I know how that sounds but they actually feel like plumped. It's almost like the feeling you get after you've had water when your thirsty. So fresh and hydrated. Also, it's got a fresh scent that lingers a long time too! This is going to be used up for sure! Like it.  For those of you that like to feel like your actually rubbing in moisturiser not just 'water' you may not like it. Probably stick to L'Occitaine. I like both. If I had to go chose only one, I'd go for L'Occitaine. Since I don't have to, I will use both!

Have you got a favorite hand cream? Let me know what it is.

Skincare Session #1 - skin type

First things first. When it comes to any skincare regime you need to know your skin type. The following may help you distinguish skin type if your not sure.
Normal skin - not oily or dry. Probably soft to touch with smallish pores. May have occasional breakout.
Dry skin - tight feeling, dehydrated skin. May look flaky especially in cold weather.
Oily skin - large pores, usually blemish prone, find your skin tends to be shiny or get shiny throughout the day
Combination skin - usually oily t-zone (forehead, nose and chin) and normal/dry cheeks.

Once you know your skin type, finding products to use will become a lot easier. You will know if you need to get specific products. For example, if you have dry skin, products that boost moisture will be what you need, if you have oily skin, you will need oil absorbing or mattifying products.

The main steps you need for skincare are; cleans, exfoliate and moisturise. More on those individual steps in the following sessions.

Have a good skin day everyday!

Places || Food & Drink

 PLACES || Camden Town, London. An all round amazing place to go. There is a tonne to do no matter what you like. Camden market and stables market are amazing places to visit. Its not your usual market, its quirky and has an amazing atmosphere no matter the weather. There are also a lot of stalls with street food. Yum! Regents park is a few minutes walk away. Lovely place to go. There is also Camden lock, where you can go on gondolas and imagine you're in Venice, Italy! That's just to name a few things. Always street entertainment, clubs and pubs, not to mention a vast variety of restaurants and eateries.

FOOD  & DRINK || Hache. This is a burger place. Lovely place to go, has 'mood lighting' and presentation and service is great. Food tastes great. Atmosphere is lovely, however, the lighting may not be perfect for everyone. I called it 'mood' lighting because it was the polite way of saying its quite dark. I found that I had to use the torch on my phone to look at the menu! Other than that its a lovely little place.
Samba Swirl.  A frozen yoghurt place that also does shakes and crepes. Perfect for desert. It's a nice place to take someone on a first date instead of coffee! It's different. Self service. Nice decor. Simple. The guy who served us was extremely friendly and catered to our needs. Tweaked the menu for us (if you want to swap ingredients in a milkshake or crepe).
You get to try before you buy. It is a pay by weight place which is good. You can add any chocolate, sweets, nuts, sprinkles, etc. Check out their website. There are 4 branches, currently all in London at the moment. Try it out!

Any recommendations of where else is good to visit? Let me know!

Until next time,

Motivational Monday || quotes of the day

Today's motivational quote:

'If you want to fly, give up everything that weighs you down'

This can be interpreted in many ways;
if you want to be successful, you may need  to sacrifice certain things that stop you from reaching your goal.
If you want to lose weight, you need to forget about eating too many yummy but fattening foods.
If you want to pack a lot into your day you need to sacrifice sleep.

Many examples. Take the quote and put it into a context that fits well with your life.

As always,

be happy, have a fantastic week and..

Thank God Its Friday (TGIF)

I am that person that can't wait 'til Friday. I always get that Friday feeling. It makes me happy. All I do every Friday is just keep reminding myself it's Friday just to get through the day. Something as simple as that makes me happy. I start thinking of all the fun things I can get up to on the weekend. Just knowing I can have a few extra hours sleep puts a smile on my face!

This weekend I will be getting ready for 2 weddings that I have to attend at the end of the month. Need to do some shopping (always fun!!!)

I think I will go for a classic look. Nice dress with cute little heels and a clutch bag. Along with that I feel as though I might add some dainty earrings, although that may change to large dangling ones depending on what I decide to do with my hair.
Make-up wise, I will opt for a natural smoky eye with black eyeliner and voluminous eyelashes. Lips most likely the 'my lips but better' or a pink stain. Blusher will most likely be a coral since that  is what I have been reaching for most the time. Saying that, I may go for a pink or plum shade depending on the exact outfit I end up wearing.

Any ideas on what to wear? Where to shop? Hair ideas? Make-up products that last on combination skin? Let me know or direct me to where to look, blog posts, pinterest etc.

What are you up to this weekend? Shopping? Housework? Going out? Event?

Let me know...

Sunny Sunday || Motivational Monday

Got the Sunday blues?
Already feeling glum before Monday even has the chance to come around.
Don't worry, you are not the only one!
We all need something to inspire or motivate us for getting through the week.
So I thought I'd put up a post every Sunday or Monday with something that will hopefully put a smile on your face, inspire or motivate you.

Today, I would like to motivate myself into getting back into exercising regularly AGAIN. I felt I was doing so well when life got in the way and I fell off my exercise train yet again. Instead of just getting back on it again, I started feeling a little sorry for myself for a while. However, I didn't allow myself to sit around and do nothing. I was still moving and staying active, but it just wasn't active enough to get rid of the belly that seems to have accumulated on me over the last year. Not only that, my diet went downhill. I started eating all the junk that possibly came my way. That has now changed. I'm back to getting in some fruit and veg. Also downloaded an app to remind me to drink water (I know that sounds lame, but if it works its great! I will keep you updated on how it works for me).

I saw this picture and thought it was very appropriate for me at this particular moment in time. I feel as though it reminds me that I need to do whats best for me, in the way that works for me. Ignore all the negative people who may influence me in a bad way. I need to stay on MY train not try and get onto other peoples path.
I love the way that it tell you to exercise for fitness and NOT to become a skinny model type figure. I love how it reminds people that we eat to nourish the body. Those are key, however, 'YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN YOU REALISE' is great! everyone needs to know that! That itself should motivate anyone to just be themselves and do what they really want to do. Love it!

Enjoy your week and...

HAIR || BODY || FEET

HAIR || Garnier ultimate blends shampoo. Lathers amazingly. Silky smooth hair, fabulous shine without leaving hair looking greasy or weighing it down. Winner! I've written a blogpost dedicated to it. http://haveahealthyfunlife.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/summer-in-bottle.html?m=1
|L'Oreal elvive extraordinary oil. Does what it says. Versatile which I love. It's a heat protectant, nourishes hair, leaves it silky smooth and shiny. It's not greasy. I use it for all the above. It can also be used as a treatment before washing hair. Almost forgot to mention how good it smells.
|keihls strengthening and hydrating hair oil-in-cream. What a long name! It's simply a leave in hair conditioner. Infused with olive and avocado oils. It's supposed to penetrate well, help repair dry, damaged hair and strengthen hair because it is rich in lipids. With continuous use it is meant to make hair strong and more resistant to further damage. Can't comment on that. I just love the way it makes my hair silky smooth and shiny. You just need a tiny drop to out through the ends of hair after washing. I like to use whilst my hair is damp. When used on dry hair it can make it feel a little greasy. Still looks good though. If you have very dry hair it could be great.
Soap & glory hair turban. (Pic below) Use after washing hair. Soaks up excess water. Just wrap around hair. By the time you put on your face moisturiser, makeup etc, your hair is damp but not dripping wet. Perfect condition to put in the leave in conditioner or hair oils.
BODY || one ginger morning. Ok guys, this is my newest find. I know it's just a bath and shower gel. But ohhh myyyy! The scent! Yummy! I love it so much that I went out and bought a backup. It's perfect for when you need the instant wake-me-up. It's cheap, from Tesco. The name is deceiving. It says ginger which would make you think it's warm and spicy. Actually it smell more like lemon or citrus. It's zesty. So if you are going to get one, take a sniff of all the scents before you buy. (The lemon one smelt off whereas the ginger smelt lemon-like. There are a tonne of scents available.)Love love love! I'm that person that likes switching up their shower gels, not using the same product twice in a row. The fact I'm on the second bottle (and the bottles are big, 500ml 16.9fl oz) is saying something. Plus, my husband who doesn't like using the same shower products as me has been using it too. He has sensitive skin and is loving it to the point he reminded me to get a back up. (Never does he remember anything ESP not beauty type products-now that's saying something). Also, packaging is nice and simple. It has a cute little story on it which I love.
FEET || Summer is here. Those of you in the UK must be loving this beautiful hot weather that's come our way. Let's make the most of it! Bring out the sandels and  flip flops. NAILS | I don't have a single favourite. Any neon, bright colour is a must in the summer. A pop of colour is a must in my eyes.
Sanctuary spa moisture rich foot butter. Smells delicious. Very moisturising. Sinks in very fast. Is not at all greasy. Must have of you are going to be having naked feet!

Enjoy the summer and as always,
